• By broadcasting (chhatta): up to 4 kg per acre
• By drill on ridges (chopa): 3 kg per acre

The seed is very small and light. For even broadcasting, mix it with fine soil, sand, fine poultry litter or about 12.5 kg of granular potash before sowing.

🚜 How to Sow

• Prepare the land and apply water. When the water has fully soaked into the soil, broadcast the seed. Do not broadcast while water is standing in the field.
• For ridge sowing, sow at very shallow depth in moist soil. Seed placed too deep or in dry soil will not germinate.
• Keep row-to-row distance 1.5–2 ft and plant-to-plant distance about 9 inches.

💧 Irrigation: Less Water Is Better

Balango needs very little water. It can often mature on the soil moisture it was sown in, and one irrigation is usually enough if needed. Extra water makes the plant grow too tall, which causes lodging and reduces seed formation, so avoid over-watering.
