💰 Ispaghol Seed Price in Pakistan

  • Pack size: 1 kg

📅 Sowing Time

  • 15 October to 30 November
  • Ispaghol needs cool, dry weather during growth. Rain or high humidity at maturity causes seed shattering, so sow on time so the crop matures before the rains

🌱 Seed Rate per Acre

  • In lines (chopa or drill): 3 kg per acre
  • By broadcasting (chhatta): up to 4 kg per acre

Avoid a higher seed rate. Dense crops are more prone to downy mildew.

🚜 How to Sow

  • Prepare a fine, soft, level seedbed
  • The seed is very small and light, so mix it with fine sand, soil or well-rotted farmyard manure for even sowing
  • Keep about 25–30 cm (about 1 ft) between rows
  • Sow very shallow (about half a centimetre) and cover lightly. Deep-sown seed will not emerge
  • Give a light irrigation right after sowing. Seed germinates in 6 to 10 days

💧 Irrigation and Care

  • Ispaghol needs little water. 3 to 4 light irrigations are usually enough for the whole crop
  • Avoid waterlogging
  • Keep the field weed-free with hoeing (godi)

🌾 Suitable Soil

Light, well-drained sandy loam is best. Ispaghol tolerates high-pH soils fairly well, but waterlogged soil is not suitable.

⏱️ Crop Duration and Harvest

  • The crop matures in about 110 to 130 days (about 4 months)
  • It is ready when the crop turns yellow, the spikes turn brown, and seed comes out when a spike is pressed
  • Harvest in the early morning to reduce seed shattering
  • Rain on a mature crop is very damaging, so watch the weather

📊 Expected Yield

According to research, average yield is about 8 to 10 maunds per acre, and higher under good conditions. Actual yield depends on weather, soil and management.
